We are a small family run nursery located in the idyllic
village of Tissington which is in the heart of the Peak District
National Park. The village forms part of the larger Tissington
Estate which has been in the Fitzherbert family for hundreds of years.

Tissington is renowned for it's beautiful and intricate well-dressings.
The wells are dressed on Accension day each year and remain dressed for
7 days. It is thought this tradition dates back to the time of the
Black Death. Tissington escaped The Plague and the purity of the
water was blessed as a thanksgiving.
The nursery has been established for a number of years but changed hands
in January 2006. It is housed in the estate's walled Old Kitchen
Gardens and still has many original features including two Victorian
glasshouses, outbuildings and Pump House.
The nursery grows many thousands of plants each year including many that
are unusual and difficult to find. Some are only available in
small quantities and varieties we have for sale vary throughout the
year. Each year the plants we offer change as new forms become
available and as we increase our stock of harder to propagate varieties.
We pride ourselves in the quality of our plants and this is reflected in
the many positive comments we receive from our customers.
I have a passion for Herbaceous Perennials and this is reflected in what
we grow. Particular favourites are Achilleas, Geraniums, Penstemon and Heleniums.
We do however have a good range of alpines, Lavenders, Garden Pinks and
herbs.
* New for 2009, we will be widening our range of herbs and
lavenders along
with introducing many new varieties and old favourites * |
